Jakaranda Centre was built during the 1970’s introducing Pick N Pay to the area which has been expanded over the years. The Centre is a mixed-used development with a strong retail component, anchored by tenants like Pick N Pay and Woolworths.
The total building GLA m2 stands at 18 407m2.
The redevelopment of Jakaranda comes from a need to reestablish the Centre as a Centre of Convenience, that has roots within the community while adding a fresh modernized look and feel.
On completion, the redevelopment total GLA will stand at an estimated 22 000m2, with the addition of a New Entrance off 18th Avenue, New Gym, and a New Food Court. These elements are just some of the additions planned, all with a key objective of making the Centre more accessible in terms of pedestrian and traffic flow.
Jakaranda Centre is situated along Frates Street and boarded by Michael Brink road, in Rietfontein, Pretoria.
The vision for the Centre is focused on reestablishing Jakaranda Shopping Centre as the “Trusted Retail Centre of Choice” in the Rietfontein Community and its surroundings.
The re-development will focus on the following aspects of convenience:
- Accessibility will be key with the addition of a new entrance off 18th Avenue.
- The offering will increase with a larger variety of national retailers opening shop on site.
- Improved traffic flow.
- A new food court that will focus solely on providing a variety of food offerings.
- Addition of a Gym will encouraging the community to maintain healthy lifestyles.
